Brenda Wilson is a professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She trained as a physician at the universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh in Scotland, with public health training in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Aberdeen. As a public health physician, epidemiologist and health services researcher, Brenda is interested in promoting the use of evidence, in policy and practice relating to emerging genomics and personalized medicine technologies.

She has published on the topics of family communication, psychosocial aspects of genetic tests, and intervention studies supporting the appropriate use of genomic information in primary care. Her current projects address the use of family history information in risk assessment, the empirical basis for parental education about newborn screening, and public and professional engagement as a way to understand implementation challenges in personalized medicine.
