On behalf of the CIHR Institute of Genetics, Genome Canada, X PRIZE Foundation, ACOA Atlantic Innovation Fund and the University of Toronto - McLaughlin Centre, thank you for agreeing to participate at the up-coming international workshop designed to explore the unique social/ethical and health systems challenges of low cost whole genome sequencing.

As you can see from the agenda, day one is structured around four moderated thematic sessions. Each session will have a panel of three speakers who will be providing 10 minute talks, plus a commentator, followed by plenary discussion. These short talks, and the overall commentary for each session, will focus on what is often overlooked and will enrich our discussion and stimulate ideas as we explore the key challenges of low cost whole genome sequencing (e.g. where are we stuck, where is the disagreement, what is unique, what is unresolved, etc).

Day two will be devoted to developing a shared document for publication that will identify areas requiring future research attention, including a publication strategy.

Your perspective, experience, and input are crucial to the success of this workshop and our effort to develop useful and practical recommendations. We hope you will bring a willingness to dive into the discussion, share your expertise, and openness to the perspectives of other participants.

We look forward to welcoming you to Montreal in April.
